FAQs

Is it okay to drink alcohol while on vacation at camp?

Yes, it is! Alcohol consumption is permissible at camp, provided it is done in moderation and inside your accommodation or within your accommodation’s outdoor picnic and campfire area. Alcoholic beverages cannot be consumed in public spaces, which includes the dining area in the breezeway.

It is stated that the maximum occupancy in a cabin is 6 people, but we have 8 members in our family. I know that there are enough beds in the cabins, so can you make an exception?

The general answer is, no. According to current COVID-related provincial health regulations, we are limited to seating 6 people per table in our dining area. As we have capacity for 10 tables and we have 7 accommodations, we may be able to increase our maximum occupancy levels on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please contact our office if you wish to book more than 6 people in one cabin. If we do have capacity, it is important to note that your family or group will need to sit at two separate tables and will not be able to push them together to make one large table.

We met a new family at camp and our kids are eager to play together. Is it necessary to remain physically distant from a family staying in another accommodation if we both agree to let our kids play together?

This is a tricky question, as it may seem harmless. However, we take our responsibility for keeping our guests safe and healthy very seriously and we respectfully ask that, for the duration of your stay, you have all members of your family remain physically distant (at least 2m apart) from other families that were not part of your ‘social bubble’ prior to coming to camp.

Will there be a lifeguard on duty?

As we are operating based on a rentals model and not a camp model, we will not have a lifeguard on duty during our Spring Break and Easter Vacation Getaway sessions. Therefore, swimming is at your and the members of your family’s own risk. We are able to provide life jackets if any members of your family require one. Please inquire at the Camp Office upon your arrival and we can arrange to provide you with the sizes you need for the duration of your stay..

Can we swim at night after it gets dark?

With regard to swimming in the dark, we appreciate how beautiful a night swim can be. However, for the safety of all our guests, Canoe Cove (our swimming beach) will be open for swimming from 8:00am to 6:00pm

What will the food be like?

The food at Fircom is delicious. Our focus is to create a healthy from scratch menu, incorporating local food to the best of our ability, with a special focus on utilizing fresh Organic produce and herbs from our beautiful garden. Reducing our carbon footprint, providing in season recipes and being stewards of the land. Check out the FIrcom Menu sheet for a sample of the meals that will be served at camp.

In addition to three meals, dessert will be served with dinner. Additional sweet treats and thirst-quenching drinks are available in the afternoon for purchase from our Tuck Shop during full days at Fircom (i.e., Saturdays for Weekend sessions and Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Mid-Week sessions).

My family members have allergies, what will they eat?

During the registration process, you will be asked to list dietary preferences and restrictions for each family member. Please be sure to do so, as we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill these needs if we do not know about them prior to arrival.
