GAMBIER GRIND, June 3, 2023

Join Us for the Gambier Grind!

It’s that time of year again, the weather is getting warmer, the birds are singing, and it’s time to hike the Gambier Grind! Join us on Gambier Island on Saturday, June 3 to hike in support of Camp Fircom!

Camp Fircom is preparing for an exciting summer season! We need your help to provide the amazing camp experience people know and love from Fircom, and ensure finances are not a barrier that keeps someone from experiencing camp. We’re looking for hikers to take on the challenge and fundraise for Camp Fircom!

Date: Saturday, June 3

Time: Leaving Horseshoe Bay for Camp Fircom around 8:30am and returning around 4:30pm

The Details:

This year, we’ll be offering two hike options:

A challenging hike to the Mount Artaban summit for intermediate and experienced hikers:

  • Difficulty: Hard - it can be quite steep in some places

  • Time: Approx. 5 hours

  • We’ll provide a bag lunch for you to enjoy at the summit

A more leisurely adventure on the Halkett Bay trail for beginner and intermediate hikers and families:

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Time: Approx. 1.5 hours

  • We’ll provide a snack for the hike and lunch at Camp Fircom afterwards

After our successful hikes, we’ll enjoy the rest of the afternoon at Camp Fircom before heading home.

We’ll help you set up a fundraising page through CanadaHelps and share some tips on how to encourage donations. We’re asking everyone to try to raise at least $100, but every dollar helps! There will be a prize for the top fundraiser.

Last year we raised $11,000 for Camp Fircom, and we’re aiming to beat that this year
