2021 Summer Camp Update

We are very sad to announce that overnight summer camp for children and youth will not be able to happen this summer at Camp Fircom. We miss you all, as Fircom is not the same without our camp community. We also know that summer camp takes a lot of time and energy to plan, and we take our job of creating communities of belonging and experiences to grow on very seriously. We won’t know whether it is safe to come together in mixed groups and sleep in cabins overnight until the early summer, and by that time, it is too late to pull everything together with the care and quality that you all deserve. This is true of all programs, from Polaris, to Mom and Kids, to Scampers.

Rest assured, we have big plans in place for ways you can stay connected to Fircom. From family vacation sessions throughout the summer, to winter break camps, spring break camps, and volunteer work weekends. We are also looking at more creative and new ways to connect in 2021 to keep the spirit of Fircom alive and well here on site and in the hearts of our Fircom community!

In addition, we are reserving one week at the end of August to host Camp Cha7elknech: Walking with Skwxwu7mesh, in a new form. This important partnership week, created with the Squamish Nation, Ayas Men Men, and the David Suzuki Foundation, has become the heartbeat of our season. We are committed to keeping the ember of connection, learning, and cultural immersion glowing in 2021 and for many years to come. While we don’t know exactly what form this camp will take (it will be based on what is possible for us to operate according to COVID-19 restrictions that are in place mid-June), the program will make it possible for participants to connect with one another in a safe and responsible way.

We will be refunding all rolled-over deposits and camp fees. Please view our FAQs where we have answered some of our most anticipated questions regarding this update.

Registration:

  • Registration for our spring and summer Family Vacation weekend sessions is now open, with registration for our mid-week sessions opening at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 28.

  • Registration for Camp Cha7elknech will open at the end of June, 2021.

  • Registration for all our regular (and NEW) Summer Camp programs will launch in January, 2022.
