Kids Camp: Junior
The heart and soul of Camp Fircom, Kids Camps create Opportunities for Connection and memories to last the whole year.

Week 2: Monday-Friday, July 26-30, 2027
Week 3: Monday-Friday, August 9 -13, 2027

Junior Camp
Junior Camp is a fantastic way to engage with the best that Fircom has to offer! As one of our classic "Kids Camp" programs, it’s chock full of sunny, summer adventure. All Junior campers will have the chance to participate in Archery, Tie-dye, Waterfront, Garden and Squamish programming, as well as other fun activities planned by their counsellors (such as intertidal exploration, arts & crafts, forest adventures, and more!). Each day is packed full of opportunities to have fun and bond with a community where each camper can truly be who they are!
Junior campers participate in activities with their cabin group that are fun, engaging, and provide an element of challenge. Their counsellors encourage campers to balance teamwork and independence in a highly supportive and safe camp environment. Junior campers will also be invited to participate in friendly camp-wide games after dinner, and evening ‘sing-a-long’ campfires to close out the day.
Camp Philosophy
Everything at Camp Fircom is guided by the philosophy of “challenge by choice.” No camper is forced to do any activity that is far outside their comfort zone. Our caring staff foster an encouraging and accepting environment that will provide campers with the tools they need to willingly step (or leap!) out of their comfort zone with greater confidence, knowing that they will be supported regardless of outcome or whether they end up making the leap. It is amazing to watch the growth that is possible in a place that feels safe and fun! The variety of activities at Camp Fircom mean there will be lots for every camper to simply enjoy, and occasionally a little something that allows campers to challenge themselves and develop new skills.
PICK UP & DROP OFF
Checking In/Out
All campers must be signed in & out by their legal guardian, unless we have received written permission in advance.
Boat Departures
Water taxis will begin departing Horseshoe Bay on Monday morning at 9:30am, and will be returning on Friday between 11am and 12 noon (arriving in waves).
Exact times will be sent in an email to all campers, 3-4 weeks before the first day of camp.
**It takes several runs of water taxis to move all campers on and off the island. We ask for patience as campers will be returning from camp on different boats. Camp Counsellors will stay with campers in Horseshoe Bay until the campers’ parents/guardians arrive.
Bus Transportation
Camp Fircom offers a camp bus that picks up and drops off in East Vancouver and West Vancouver to bring campers to/from the water taxis in Horseshoe Bay.
The bus will depart approximately 8am from Lakeview United in East Vancouver, and 8:30 am from St David’s United in West Vancouver. Exact times will be sent in an email 3-4 weeks prior to the first day of camp. Please watch for this email as it sometimes ends up in spam folders.
SPACE IS LIMITED, REGISTER EARLY. Bus seats are available for purchase when you register for any of our Kids & Teens Camps. If you’ve already registered your child for camp, you can add this option by searching the MERCHANDISE tab in our Amilia Camp Store. You must be logged into your account to purchase a bus seat, as they are linked to each week of camp. Questions? info@fircom.ca
COST: $40.00 + GST (round-trip).
PLEASE NOTE: bus fares are non-refundable after June 1st, and we prefer not to sell any remaining seats after that date. This is to assist our summer camp director in the detailed organization of campers on water taxis, which begins after June 1st. Thank you for your understanding.
Accommodation
Junior campers will stay in our cabins. Accommodations are all-gendered, so campers can expect to share an accommodation with fellow campers of all genders, gender identities, and gender expressions. This change represents a shift towards making camp a more welcoming and inclusive environment. In order for campers to maintain privacy when dressing, we will continue to have covered changing stations in cabins and private stalls in all of our washroom facilities.
Cabins sleep 12 campers, plus their Camp Counsellors, and possibly a Counsellor in Training.
Please ensure that your camper packs warmly, as these accommodations can get quite cool on summer evenings! See the packing list in our Welcome Package for more information.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
SCAMPER CAMP registrations that are cancelled prior to June 1, 2027 will receive a full refund less a $50.00 cancellation fee. All other Summer Camp registrations that are cancelled prior to June 1, 2027 will receive a full refund less a $100.00 cancellation fee. If the registration is cancelled between June 1st and fifteen days prior to the start date of the session, a refund of 50% of the Registration Fee will be given. No refund will be given within two weeks of the session start date, with the exception of a cancellation for a medical emergency (including a positive COVID-19 test result). If a cancellation is for medical reasons and a medical note or proof of a positive COVID-19 test result is provided, only the $100.00 Cancellation Fee will be charged, and a CREDIT will be given for the remaining balance. This credit is valid until the end of our 2028 season, and can be used by anyone in the household. Campers leaving camp mid-session due to medical or behavioral reasons will not receive a refund. *EXCEPTION: For ALL Spring Camps (March-June), the cancellation deadline for receiving a full refund less $100 cancellation fee is 35 days (5 weeks) prior to the first day of camp (Easter Family Camp, Queer Family Camp, & Dad & Kids Camp).
My 8 year-old daughter (who was very anxious about going to camp and adamant about not going right up until 2 days before) had the time of her life and came home thrilled that she had made 11 new best friends. Thank you Camp Fircom for providing such a wonderful experience!
