Culinary Retreat Highlights
What happens when you combine a talented chef, a local artist, and a delightful group of food lovers?
You get a very delicious weekend!
From the Kitchen Culinary Retreat kicked off Friday evening with a stunning five-course dinner and wine pairings prepared by Head Chef Brent Sebela. Instead of the usual camp kitchen meal prep, Brent had the chance to show off his culinary talents, to the delight of all participants! Conversations stretched as long as the courses. Plates were cleared slowly, glasses refilled, and many stories were shared.
Saturday’s rainy weather turned out to be perfect for cozy indoor creativity. Guests rotated through hands-on workshops including canning and pickling with Chef Brent, pyrography with local artist Kathryn Beals, and scone making with Joe, our awesome Camp Cook.
Participants created their own custom mango wood charcuterie boards and jars of preserves to take home, and prepared their scones to be baked for Sunday morning. Joe has a way of making the kitchen feel welcoming and fun!
Sunday served Up sunshine!
Some guests tried archery, others wandered forest trails, and many made their way to Campfire Rock to enjoy the vistas beside calm water. It was a gorgeous day, with more culinary delights offered From the Kitchen!
Great food. New skills. Creative sparks. Plenty of laughter.
That’s From the Kitchen, Culinary Retreat, February 6-8, 2026 at Camp Fircom!
Participants left with jars of preserves, handcrafted charcuterie boards, embroidered Camp Fircom aprons, new recipes, and renewed culinary inspiration.
Most importantly, they left with the memory of a weekend where nourishment was multidimensional, food for the body, inspiration for the mind, and connection for the heart.
At Camp Fircom, we believe that food is a gateway to community and creativity.
This weekend, we truly savoured both.
